Arena Walkthrough

Arena Overview

Funguys Swarm contains five arenas, each with unique environments, enemy compositions, and boss encounters. Arenas are tackled in order: Carrot Farm, Frozen Pond, Lava Jungle, Egglosseum, and finally Hellscape — the climactic final arena where you face the Fire King.

Each arena has a completion timer. Defeating enemies fills the timer bar; when it reaches maximum, the arena boss spawns. Your goal is to survive until the boss appears and defeat it to complete the arena. Completing an arena unlocks the next one, and every completed arena contributes to your permanent Forest Strength upgrades.

You can replay any unlocked arena at any time from the Sanctuary selection screen. Replaying earlier arenas is an effective farming strategy for Dew, Starpath completions, and resource collection before attempting harder content.

Carrot Farm

Carrot Farm is the starting arena and the entry point for all Funguys Swarm players. Its pastoral environment introduces you to the game’s core mechanics in a controlled setting.

Enemy types in Carrot Farm include basic Chompers that walk directly toward you, Spitters that fire slow projectiles from range, and Bouncers that hop toward you in arcs. Elite variants of these enemies appear starting in wave three, with larger health pools and more aggressive behavior.

The Carrot Farm boss is the Appletini — a giant anthropomorphic fruit wielding an oversized bottle. Phase one features sweeping projectile arcs that are easily dodged by moving perpendicular to the attack direction. Phase two adds a spin attack that creates expanding shockwaves. Stay mobile in the outer ring during phase two to avoid the shockwave center.

Recommended approach for Carrot Farm: prioritize weapon upgrades over skill expansion in early runs. A focused weapon build with strong base damage will carry you through the arena without requiring complex skill synergies.

Frozen Pond

Frozen Pond introduces environmental ice hazards that reduce your movement control. When you move on frozen ground, your character slides slightly, making precise dodging harder. This environmental challenge rewards builds with strong crowd control.

New enemy types in Frozen Pond include Frozen Frogs that launch slow-moving ice shards, Snow Chompers with increased health compared to their Carrot Farm counterparts, and Elite Ice Worms that burrow and ambush from below ground.

The Frozen Pond boss is the Frozen Banana — a towering ice creature that alternates between freezing breath attacks and ground-pound shockwaves. The freezing breath fills a cone in front of the boss; dodge perpendicular to the boss’s facing direction. The ground-pound phase creates expanding ice circles; stand at the edge of the arena to minimize your escape options.

Build recommendation for Frozen Pond: Water-element skills shine here because Freeze effects applied to enemies prevent them from moving on the ice, effectively negating the environmental hazard for your advantage. Skills like Frozen Splash and Whirlpool provide excellent control in this arena.

Lava Jungle

Lava Jungle introduces fire-based environmental damage. Standing in lava pools deals continuous damage to your character, making arena navigation critical. Fire enemies in this arena also apply burn effects on contact.

Enemy types include Lava Sprouts that emit fire bursts, Flame Chompers with a burning aura, Firefly enemies that explode on death, and Lava Golems — large elite enemies with slow but devastating attacks.

The Lava Jungle boss is the Dragonfruit, a massive two-phase boss. Phase one features sweeping fire breath and a ground-pound attack. Phase two adds a fire tornado that chases your position. The key strategy for Dragonfruit is staying at medium range — close enough to deal damage with ranged skills, far enough to react to the tornado.

Build recommendation for Lava Jungle: prioritize movement-based skills and passive damage resistance. Dash-triggered skills like Twin Flame and Bramble Roots are particularly valuable here because they deal damage without requiring you to stand still. Skills that apply burn effects counter the arena’s fire theme by stacking burn damage on fire enemies.

Egglosseum

Egglosseum is the hardest non-final arena, featuring the highest elite enemy density and most aggressive swarm compositions in the game. This arena tests your build’s sustained damage output and crowd control under maximum pressure.

Enemy types include armored Beetles that require multiple hits to defeat, elite Bouncers with larger hit areas, Swarming Insect clusters that overwhelm through numbers, and the Cave Chieftain elite — a tough melee enemy with a ground-slam attack.

The Egglosseum boss is Chicken Caesar — a massive rooster warrior with two clearly defined phases. Phase one features standard boss attacks: pecking combos and jump-slam attacks. Phase two introduces a crown-attack that must be dodged with dash, followed by an arena-wide wing-beat that pushes you toward the edges.

Build recommendation for Egglosseum: Beast-element skills provide the raw sustained damage needed for this arena’s elite density. Skills like Crazyball that amplify weapon attacks and passive effects like Beastly Strength that boost overall damage output are essential. Pair with a healing or shield passive to manage the inevitable damage from elite swarm encounters.

Hellscape

Hellscape is the final arena, unlocked after completing Egglosseum. This arena is the climax of Funguys Swarm, featuring the highest difficulty, the most chaotic enemy compositions, and the climactic confrontation with the Fire King.

Environment hazards in Hellscape include persistent fire pools, erupting volcanoes that launch projectiles across the arena, and a darkness mechanic that periodically dims visibility. These environmental challenges compound with elite enemy density to create the most demanding arena in the game.

Enemy types include Burnt Coal enemies that explode on death, Burnt Shrooms with a wider attack range than standard Shrooms, elite Fire Golems, and the feared Yellow Paprika — a boss-tier enemy that appears in Hellscape as a regular elite with massive health and devastating fire attacks.

The Fire King is the final boss of Hellscape and the game. He has three distinct phases with increasing aggression. Phase one features sweeping fire slashes and minion summoning. Phase two adds a fire pillar attack that covers large areas with delayed eruption zones. Phase three — triggered at fifty percent health — transforms the arena into a fully fire-based hazard zone and grants the Fire King access to his full attack suite including the devastating Flame Column.

Build recommendation for Hellscape: survival takes priority over damage in this arena. Earth and Water elements provide the best combination of crowd control and survivability. Iron Shroom for constant area damage, Whirlpool for enemy displacement, and Boulder Bonk for boss-phase crowd control form a strong defensive core. Equip Slo Moe and Macho Treelings for projectile protection and health recovery. If you have Forest Strength upgrades that reduce Fire Curse penalties, taking one or two Fire Curses here accelerates your run’s reward multiplier without making the fight impossible.

Arena Farming Strategy

After unlocking Hellscape, many players choose to replay earlier arenas for efficient resource farming. Carrot Farm and Frozen Pond have the best resource-to-difficulty ratios for farming Dew and Starpath progress. Lava Jungle is valuable for fire-based Starpath quests. Egglosseum is ideal for Beast-element challenges.

The most efficient farming build focuses on fast clear speed rather than maximum survival. High attack speed weapon builds with dash-triggered skills like Bramble Roots and Nut N Run can clear Carrot Farm in under five minutes, making it the best arena for rapid Dew accumulation.

Arena-Specific Tips

Carrot Farm rewards aggressive play — the earlier you engage enemy groups, the easier the wave density becomes. Frozen Pond rewards defensive positioning — control where enemies stand rather than chasing them. Lava Jungle rewards environmental awareness — learn the fire pool patterns to navigate safely. Egglosseum rewards build focus — a single strong synergy outperforms scattered upgrades. Hellscape rewards patience — do not rush, prioritize survival, and use every environmental obstacle as temporary cover.
